For blog posts, I use WordPress for creating and managing content, however I wrote custom SQL queries to actually get the data, as I didn't want to have a generic WordPress site. This was merely an asthetic decision.
The site is hosted by Site Ground, where they offer some very powerful tools that have made creating this site exceptionally easy. Tools such as cPanel and phpMyAdmin.
While designing this site, I tested it using Google Chrome which comes with some very powerful dev tools.
